My love affair with clay began when I was very small. While other little girls played with dolls' houses, I
was digging up clay in the garden and making things with it. Early masterpieces included Bengo the Boxer Puppy (a Tim cartoon
narrated by Sylvia Peters on Children's Hour) and Prudence the Kitten, as well as other more anonymous animals. The models
were allowed to dry and then carefully painted with watercolour, then to reside on the kitchen windowsill until my mother
surreptitiously discarded them. Since then, I have studied at Manchester College of Art & Design (1965-1970) and
more recently at the University of Derby, achieving the University's Certificate & Advanced Diploma in Ceramics, and
part 1 of the MA ADAPT at the same institution.
